Q: Do Mellanox adapters support VMware ESXi?
A: Yes — Mellanox ConnectX-4 and newer have native inbox drivers in VMware ESXi 6.7+ and vSphere 7/8.
Q: What is the difference between HDR100 and full HDR (200Gb/s)?
A: HDR100 uses a single InfiniBand lane at 100Gb/s, while full HDR uses two lanes at 200Gb/s. Most AI/ML workloads perform well on HDR100 at a lower cost point.
Q: Can I use a Mellanox InfiniBand adapter in an Ethernet network?
A: Only dual-mode (VPI) adapters support both InfiniBand and Ethernet. IB-only adapters cannot connect to Ethernet switches. Check the product specifications for details.
