The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus is the 2U dual-socket AMD EPYC platform from HPE — the direct competitor to the Dell PowerEdge R7525. This listing is a barebone chassis: chassis, backplane, both heatsinks, Smart Array E208i-a controller, two PCIe risers and two 800W power supplies are included. Processors, memory and drives are not included — you fit your own, which is exactly how most EPYC builds are bought.
It suits buyers who already hold EPYC 7002/7003 processors and DDR4 RDIMMs and want a complete 2U platform with PCIe 4.0 and 32 DIMM slots, without paying for a fully pre-configured system.
Quick answer: the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus is a 2U dual-socket AMD EPYC server (SP3, Rome and Milan) with 32 DDR4-3200 DIMM slots and PCIe 4.0. This listing is the barebone: chassis with 8-bay front cage, both heatsinks, Smart Array E208i-a controller, two PCIe risers and two 800W power supplies, with no processors, memory or drives. It is the direct AMD equivalent of the Dell PowerEdge R7525.
What's included
- DL385 Gen10 Plus 2U chassis with 8-bay SATA/SAS front cage and backplane
- Both CPU heatsinks (dual-socket ready)
- HPE Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10 controller — 8 internal SAS lanes, 12Gb/s SAS / 6Gb/s SATA, RAID 0/1/5/10, no cache, sits in the dedicated storage slot so it does not consume a PCIe slot
- 2 x PCIe risers (second riser serves the second processor's PCIe lanes)
- 2 x 800W HPE Flex Slot hot-plug power supplies
- HPE iLO 5 management with the dedicated 1Gb management port
What's not included
- No CPU — 1 or 2 AMD EPYC processors required
- No memory — DDR4-3200 RDIMM/LRDIMM required, 32 DIMM slots (16 per processor)
- No drives — 8 front bays are empty
- No rail kit and no cable management arm unless arranged separately
- No operating system

CPU compatibility
Compatible with the AMD EPYC 7002/7003 platform (Rome / Milan). This platform ships for EPYC 7002 Series; running a 7003 Series CPU depends on the System ROM level installed, because Milan support is delivered through the ROM. Tell us the CPU model you plan to fit and we will confirm which System ROM this unit needs — the ROM is flashable. Check that your CPU's TDP sits within the supported range for this chassis. Both processors must be the same model when running dual socket.
The second processor is what activates the remaining DIMM slots and the PCIe lanes of the second riser, so a dual-CPU build unlocks the full 32 DIMM capacity and all riser slots.
DL385 Gen10 Plus vs Dell PowerEdge R7525
Both are 2U dual-socket AMD EPYC platforms with PCIe 4.0 and 32 DDR4 DIMM slots — they are bought for the same jobs. The practical differences:
| Item | HPE DL385 Gen10 Plus | Dell PowerEdge R7525 |
|---|---|---|
| Form factor | 2U, dual socket | 2U, dual socket |
| CPU family | AMD EPYC 7002 / 7003 (SP3) | AMD EPYC 7002 / 7003 (SP3) |
| DIMM slots | 32 x DDR4-3200 | 32 x DDR4-3200 |
| PCIe | PCIe 4.0 via risers | PCIe 4.0 via risers |
| Controller mount | E208i-a in dedicated storage slot — PCIe slots stay free | PERC in dedicated mini-slot on most builds |
| Management | iLO 5 | iDRAC 9 |
| PSU in this unit | 2 x 800W hot-plug | Depends on build |
If your rack, spares pool or team tooling is already HPE, the DL385 keeps iLO 5 and Smart Array provisioning consistent with your other HPE nodes. If you are standardising on iDRAC, our Dell PowerEdge R750xa barebone is the equivalent AMD platform we hold. We stock both — ask for a quote on whichever fits your fleet, or browse all used rack servers and barebones.
Why buy from Zhongxin Data
- In-house re-flash & testing — every unit runs on our own test line before it ships; we do not resell untested pallet stock.
- Reference image plus real photos on request — the image above is a stock reference photo for this model. Ask and we will send photos of the specific unit offered, before you commit.
- Model-level answers — send the processor, DIMM and drive part numbers you intend to fit and we will confirm compatibility in writing.
- 90-day warranty from delivery.
Parts this build usually needs
Pair the chassis with DDR4-3200 RDIMM server memory, 2.5-inch SAS enterprise drives for the front cage, and a Broadcom MegaRAID controller if you need cache, RAID 6 or external ports rather than the included E208i-a.
Request a quote
This is a quote-based listing — pricing moves with the market, so we quote per order instead of publishing a number. Send us the quantity, the processors and DIMMs you plan to fit, and the destination country, and we will come back with pricing and availability for that exact configuration.

Frequently asked questions
Which processors can I install?
AMD EPYC 7002 Series (Rome) and, with a supporting system ROM, EPYC 7003 Series (Milan). Both sockets are SP3. Send us the exact CPU model and we will confirm the System ROM level needed before shipping.
Why are there no CPU, memory or drives?
This is a barebone chassis. Selling the platform on its own keeps the cost down for buyers who already hold EPYC processors and DDR4 RDIMMs. We can quote processors, memory and drives separately if you want a complete build.
What does the E208i-a controller support?
Eight internal SAS lanes at 12Gb/s SAS and 6Gb/s SATA, RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, no cache, and mixed mode (RAID and HBA simultaneously). It occupies the dedicated storage slot rather than a PCIe slot. If you need cache or RAID 6, the P408i-a family is the alternative — ask us.
Which drive form factor does this unit take?
The DL385 Gen10 Plus platform was offered with both 2.5" and 3.5" front cages across its configurations. Tell us the drive type you intend to fit and we will match it to the specific unit we hold, and confirm the backplane before you commit.
How do I get pricing?
Message WhatsApp +86 13068616914 with the model, quantity, target configuration and destination country. We quote against that configuration and the quote is valid for the day of issue.
