Quick answer: This is a used Dell PowerEdge R650, the 1U dual-socket 15th-generation Intel platform, fitted with two 28-core Xeon Gold 6330 processors, 1TB of DDR4-3200 memory across 16 DIMMs, two 480GB SATA SSDs on a PERC H355, a dual-port 16Gb Fibre Channel HBA and an Intel E810 dual-port 10/25GbE adapter, with iDRAC9, dual 800W power supplies and rails. It is bench-tested on our own line, carries a 90-day warranty from delivery, and is quoted per unit or per volume order.

The Dell PowerEdge R650 is the mainstream 1U workhorse of Dell's 15th generation: two LGA4189 sockets for 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable, eight DDR4-3200 channels per socket, PCIe 4.0 across the board, and a shallow enough chassis to fit racks where a 2U box will not. It is the platform most often specified for virtualisation clusters, web and application tiers, and branch or edge deployments where density per rack unit is the constraint.

This particular unit is not a barebone and not a partial build. Both sockets are populated with Xeon Gold 6330 — 28 cores, 56 threads, 2.0GHz base, 42MB cache, 205W — giving 56 cores and 112 threads in a single rack unit. All 16 DIMM slots are filled with 64GB DDR4-3200 RDIMMs for 1TB of memory, which is the configuration that makes a 1U node useful for dense virtualisation: you are not buying a chassis and then discovering that memory is the bottleneck.

What's included

  • 2 x Intel Xeon Gold 6330 — 28 cores / 56 threads each, 2.0GHz, 42MB, 205W (56 cores total)
  • 16 x 64GB DDR4-3200 RDIMM — 1TB installed, all 16 slots populated
  • 2 x 480GB SATA SSD — 2.5" hot-plug, mounted in the front bay
  • PERC H355 — 12Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID controller, RAID 0/1/5/10
  • Dual-port 16Gb Fibre Channel HBA — for SAN attach
  • Intel E810 dual-port 10/25GbE — SFP28, for east-west traffic

  • 2 x 800W hot-plug redundant power supplies
  • Rack rails included with this unit
  • 8 x 2.5" SFF front drive bays (2 occupied by the SSDs; 6 free)

What's not included

  • Operating system and licences — install your own
  • Additional drives beyond the two 480GB SSDs — we can quote more if you need them
  • Bezel and cable management arm — ask and we will confirm what is available with the unit we hold

Why this configuration works as a 1U node

Most used R650 units on the market ship from decommissioned clusters with the processors pulled or with a fraction of the memory populated, because memory is the first thing buyers strip. This one arrives with both 6330s and all 16 DIMM slots filled. That matters because the R650's 32 DIMM capacity is only reachable with the right DIMM population, and a 1TB 16-DIMM build is a different class of machine from an 8-DIMM 256GB build — it is the difference between running a few dozen virtual machines and running a dense private-cloud node.

The two adapters serve two different jobs and it is worth being clear about which is which. The Intel E810 is the Ethernet path: dual SFP28 ports that run at 10GbE or 25GbE depending on the optics and switch you attach, which is what you want for storage traffic or a leaf-spine fabric. The dual-port 16Gb Fibre Channel HBA is the SAN path: it connects the server to an existing FC fabric and array, which is still how a large share of enterprise storage estates are wired. Having both means the unit can sit in a Fibre Channel environment without an additional card purchase.

The PERC H355 is a 12Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID controller without a battery-backed cache module. That is the right controller for this build: the drives fitted are two SATA SSDs for boot and local scratch, and the heavy storage lives on the SAN. RAID 1 across the two SSDs gives you a mirrored boot volume; the controller also supports RAID 0, 5 and 10 if you add drives later.

R650 vs the R650xs we also list

Both are 1U dual-socket 15th-generation Intel servers and both appear in the same RFQs. The R650 is the standard-depth platform with more drive bay and expansion flexibility; the R650xs is the shorter-depth variant built for racks where depth is limited, with a narrower expansion envelope. If your rack is standard depth and you want the extra PCIe room, take the R650. If you are filling a shallow cabinet, take the R650xs. If you are weighing 1U density against 2U expandability, our PowerEdge R760 is the 2U Intel alternative, the PowerEdge R7525 is the 2U AMD option,

If you already hold LGA3647 processors and DDR4 RDIMMs and want the cheapest route onto a 1U platform, the PowerEdge R640 barebone is the 14th-generation equivalent: same 1U dual-socket role, older socket, no silicon included — you supply the processors, memory, drives and controller.

Need processors too? Expanding this node? The R650 takes FCLGA4189 (Ice Lake) processors - we stock 4310 / 4314 / 4316 / 5318Y / 6338 / 6336Y / 6348 / 8360Y for this platform, see the server processors range.

Why buy from Zhongxin Data

  • In-house re-flash & testing — every unit runs on our own test line before it ships; we do not resell untested pallet lots.
  • Photos of the actual unit on request — the image above is the reference image for this model. Ask and we will send photos of the specific unit offered, before you commit.
  • Configuration confirmed in writing — processor model, DIMM population, drive health, HBA part number and rail availability are confirmed per unit, not assumed from the model name.
  • Single units or volume — we quote one server or a rack of them, with volume tiers from 10 units.
  • 90-day warranty from delivery.

This is a quote-based listing — there is no public price, because the price depends on quantity, destination, and whether you want the memory and drives as configured or adjusted. Send us the quantity, the destination country, and anything you want changed (more drives, different optics, a second unit for spare parts) and we will come back with pricing for that exact configuration. Quotes are valid for the day of issue.

Frequently asked questions

Are both processors and all memory included?

Yes. Two Xeon Gold 6330 processors and 16 x 64GB DDR4-3200 RDIMMs (1TB total) are installed in this unit. If you want a lighter memory configuration to reduce cost, tell us the target capacity and we will quote it with the DIMMs adjusted — DDR4 RDIMM modules from 16GB to 64GB are on our DDR4 RDIMM memory listing.

What are the two network cards for?

The Intel E810 dual-port adapter is the Ethernet path — 10GbE or 25GbE SFP28 depending on the optics and switch you use. The dual-port 16Gb Fibre Channel HBA is the SAN path, for attaching the server to an existing FC fabric and storage array.

Does the PERC H355 support hardware RAID?

Yes — RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on SAS and SATA drives, without a battery-backed cache module. For two boot SSDs, RAID 1 is the usual configuration. Tell us if you want the drives left in non-RAID mode instead and we will set it before shipping.

What is the drive health?

Drive wear and health data are read from each unit on our test line. Ask us and we will send the figures for the specific unit being offered, before you commit.

Are rails included?

Yes — rails are included with this unit. If your rack uses a specific rail kit type, tell us in the enquiry and we will confirm compatibility before shipping.

Can I buy a quantity of these?

Yes. We sell single units and volume orders, with volume tiers starting at 10 units. Send the quantity you need and we will confirm what we can allocate on that schedule, along with pricing for the batch.

How do I get pricing?

Message WhatsApp +86 13068616914 with the model, quantity, and destination country. We quote against that configuration and the quote is valid for the day of issue.

Is this R650 in stock?

Yes — this configuration is in stock. Send the quantity you need and the destination country and we will confirm availability for that quantity and quote the unit. If you want a different memory or drive configuration, ask before ordering: the unit is built to the configuration we confirm with you, and availability is checked per part number.
